This was one of those products I've put off buying for years because I didn't think the advertising was honest.

  It just plain works, March 1, 2011I had purchased a wine pump from a major retailer. It was lucky to hold a vacuum for a day. We absolutely did not dare to place a bottle on it's side. We returned the item and bought a Vacu Vin. No comparison. The Vacu Vin gets out much more air, gives you a "click" when you have reached maximum (or is that minimum). The vacuum seal has lasted for days. This is just simply a very good product that does what it should.

My wife and I regularly drink wine, but usually only have a glass per day, and with some wines, if you don't finish it the next day, it's awful the 3rd day. We bought this to save a little money and see if we could extend the life of our wines. It does work quite well, and exactly as they describe. You place the stopper in the bottle, pump the pump a few times until you hear a click and you're done. I will say this, it won't get you 10 days. In our experience, we get around 4 to 5 days using this device. Still worth the money, as you don't have to have the same wine 2 nights in a row just because you opened it the previous night and didn't finish the bottle.

Cheap and they work. Have used on a variety of bottles without issues. Simply insert the plug, put the pump on top, and pump repeatedly until you hear a clicking type sound. When you later remove the plug, you can hear the vacuum being broken. I left it on one bottle (nasty tasting) for several weeks and when I finally did remove the plug to dump the wine, I noticed it had kept the seal all that time.
